Sadly the herring fishing industry is no longer part of daily life in Wick but Pulteney Distillery continues to operate, distilling one of the finest Highland malts available. Inspired by the visit of Alfred Barnard to the distillery in the 1880's when he tried an 'exceptionally fine' eight-year-old from the distillery, this is a fitting tribute for the milestone. Matured using a combination of European and American Oak casks and bottled at 48% volume, This limited, once of a lifetime dram, is only available while stocks last. For one, it is triple distilled and patiently aged in a combination of ex-bourbon and sherry casks, developing its distinctive smoothness. Secondly, being a blend of all three types of Irish whiskey, it has a gentle complexity. The malt and the pot still whiskey we use give it citrus and spicy notes. The early floral yet biscuit flavour reflects the grain whiskey, while the soft spicy notes can be attributed to the pot still whiskey in the blend. The citrus flavour is contributed by the malt. Finally notice the nutty or even marzipan note combined with distinctive vanilla in the finish – imparted by the sherry and bourbon casks used in maturation.  Alcohol Vol. 40%   Our Price $46.99   Click Here to Buy Courvoisier VS 700ml Brandy/Cognac   Courvoisier has a traditional French Cognac heritage, but it also has many colourful and opulent associations. Throughout its early history, Courvoisier was the official supplier to the Imperial Courts and is known as the Cognac of Napoleon. To maintain its legendary quality, Courvoisier only uses Ugni Blanc grapes and these are chosen from the four finest Crus of the Cognac region: Grande Champagne, Petite Champagne, Borderies and Fins Bois. The double distillation process is specific to cognac, and takes place in a traditional Charentais pot still made of red copper. Produce from the first distillation, the "brouillis" is distilled a second time for "La Bonne Chauffe" The distiller must then separate the final product into 3 parts: the heads, the heart and finally the tails. Only the heart is used in the creation of Courvoisier Cognac. Unlike many of its competitors Courvoisier uses smaller stills in the distillation of the wine to allow better control of the quality and complexity of the young cognac. Courvoisier always uses French oak to create its ageing barrels.
