Aloha once more to all you folks out there in the interweb wine world, Kona Wine Market is ready for another wine tasting this Friday, the 16th of October. Yes, more wines for you, our customers. to try, to taste, to wax eruditely on, to proclaim your impressions, to express your wonder on the marvelousness of the profound expressions of the grape, the terrior, the art and skills of the winemaker, er, getting a bit carried away there. Anyway, however, if you do feel the urge to do any of the above listed, feel free to do so. Many thanks to Chad Stephens, who last Friday conducted a most erudite and marvelous tasting. Now for this week, here we go:

--------------------------

Nortico Alvarinho 2018

TASTING NOTES: Creamy citrus oil, lime and yellow apple notes are nicely spiced and detailed with saline mineral and floral underpinnings through the long finish. - Gillian Sciaretta PAIRING SUGGESTIONS: This is a young, fresh white wine with the characteristic bright acidity and aromas of peach and grapefruit. At only 12.5 % alcohol, Nortico is light and delicate, lovely as a "porch-sipping wine" to drink on its own. Have it simply with corn bread and butter like country folks do in Portugal. Also a terrific seafood wine, particularly with salty, fattier dishes like fish tacos or broiled oysters. Recommended serving temperature is 50F (10C) so the citrus and fruit aromas are well present.

$22.00

d'Arenberg The Hermit Crab Marsanne Viognier 2017

ws 89 we 87

An attractive pale gold colour with a lime green hue. There's white peach, pear and green melon on the nose. Textural and spicy, with flavors of honeydew melon, just ripe stone fruit and pickled ginger. It finishes slightly phenolic, adding some pleasing, mouth-watering grip to the back palate. Serve cold, with food.

Jim Barry The Lodge Hill Shiraz 2016

ws 90 we 88

Colour: This wine is a deep red with a bright magenta hue. Aroma: Vibrant aromatics of red and black berry fruits, a lift of violet florals, clove spice and mixed garden herbs. Palate: The palate is dominated by a lively burst of berry fruits, which are well framed by fine, powdery tannins. Juicy plum and blackberry flavours persist through the finish, with sweet spice to close. This wine is ideally suited to good food, good friends and good conversation.

$28.00

Casa Ferreirinha Papa Figos 2016

ws 86

The final wine is a ruby color with violet nuances. It has an aroma of good intensity with floral notes of rock rose and basil, red fruits, stone fruits such as apricots, and light men- thol tones. On the palate, it has good body, a well-integrated acidity, smooth tannins, notes of red fruit and an elegant and balanced finish.

$25.00
