Subarashii Kudamono Asian Pear Eau de Vie 375ML
$14.98
Otherwise known as a clear brandy in the French style, it is supple, warming and full of delirious aromas of nectar and butterscotch. Whiskey fans should enjoy this white spirit as Eau de Vie is a distant ancestral (French) cousin of Whiskey before it gained its Whiskey namesake and long before it became a brown spirit. Clear and aptly named Eau de Vie (water of life) by the French who envied its creation by the Irish when “whisky” was then called Uisce Beatha (water-of-life) is the inspiration for this Pennsylvania brandy with an equally unique name. Unlike Whiskeys (made from grains), the French chose to use fruits. But what makes this Subarashii Kudamono brandy so unique and wonderful is that it is produced from Asian Pears exclusively grown on an estate farm in Pennsylvania; an olde-world fruit as the center of an olde-world style spirit: Asian Pears are mankind’s oldest cultivated fruit. Subarashii Kudamono’s Eau de Vie was nominated as Top Brandy in the World at the Berlin International Spirits Festival and was celebrated by Wine Enthusiast with 89 points. For those craft spirits purists out there – this spirit’s origins are embedded with the hands-on inspiration of craft spirits pioneer, Westford Hill.
